The Child and Adult Services Department was established in August 2005 and includes the Department for Education, Integrated Youth Support Services and Children’s Fund.

The focus of the department is strategic management, raising educational attainment, Children with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs, promoting attendance at school, Early Years and Childcare, Children’s Social Care, Safeguarding Children, Integrated Youth Support Services and Children’s Fund.

The Child and Adult Services Department is based within the Civic Centre and has a number of services located in offices throughout Hartlepool.

The Families Information Service Hartlepool (FISH) is located at Hartlepool Central Library, York Road, Hartlepool. FISH offers information, advice and guidance on childcare, services for families and information for children and young people aged 0 to 19 years.
