All of the activities at Carlton are led by qualified and experienced instructors, following a participant centred, ‘Challenge by Choice’ ethos.

Each activity brings its own challenges and rewards, enabling participants to gain new skills and experiences.

Carlton OEC attach great importance to partnership in the development of all course programmes.  Tell them how you want to make use of the locations and opportunities available so that together you can construct a programme which meets your objectives.

The Carlton Mission

To be an outstanding and first choice provider of high quality outdoor education through the delivery of activities and experiences that enable every visitor to reach their full potential.

Aims:

  • To provide a welcoming and caring environment in which all visitors and staff feel supported, safe and secure.
  • To ensure that all visitors have equal access to high quality instruction and activities that maximise their learning opportunities and raise standards of achievement.
  • To support the work of schools through the delivery of high quality outdoor education that links to and supports the National Curriculum, Key Skills and the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto.
  • To be a first choice provider of residential outdoor education, for primary age pupils, particularly within the boroughs of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
  • To promote the use of the Centre, its facilities and programmes of activity, by clients from the wider community.
  • To foster caring attitudes to our natural surroundings and the development of sustainable lifestyles.

Booking

The centre is normally available for 5 day (Monday to Friday) or 3 day (Friday to Sunday) courses.  Other length courses are available as well and the centre can be booked on an non-instructed (accommodation only) basis if required.  Self catering is also available as an option at Carlton OEC.

Day visits are welcome.

A 5% discount is available to all Hartlepool Groups
 

Staff require specific qualifications to deliver activities.  For details of these qualifications please contact the centre.

The Centre is Local Authority managed service, Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, Association of Heads of Centre Gold Award, National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme, LOTC Quality Badge, Adventure Mark

The Centre is located in the small and picturesque village of Carlton-on-Cleveland at the foot of the Cleveland hills within the North York Moors National Park.
